How to use ConvertToUnits.com efficiently?
Our engine is built to understand intent, not just keywords. You don't need to navigate complex menus or fill out multiple fields. Just type your conversion as you would say it.
β‘ Pro Tips for Power Users
Skip the "to": You can just type "5km miles" and we'll handle the rest.
Use Symbols: Symbols like "=", "->", or "in" work perfectly for quick typing.
Fractions Matter: We support mixed numbers like "1 1/2" or "0.75" natively.
Case Sensitivity: Most units are case-insensitive, but we respect "MB" vs "Mb" for data.
Query Patterns
Conversational
Full sentences with context. Our NLP engine filters out the "noise" automatically.
"Convert a car's speed of 65 mph to m/s"Direct Questions
Ask exactly what you need to know. No rigid syntax required.
"How many milliliters are in 42 gallons?"Technical Shorthand
For when you're in a hurry. Use symbols and arrows.
"1024MB -> GB" or "50psi = bar"Mixed Numbers
Fractions and decimals are handled natively.
"1 1/2 miles to km" or "3/4 cup to ml"Compound Units
Complex rates and "per" notation.
"100 km/h to mph" or "50 meters per second in ft/s"Temperature Symbols
Degree symbols or shorthand letters.
"32Β°F to Β°C" or "100c in fahrenheit"π We are constantly improving
Natural language processing is complex. We are actively working to make the querying experience even more robust. Every day, we add support for more unit aliases, common misspellings, and complex sentence structures.
If a specific query doesn't work, try simplifying it to the core units (e.g., "5 miles to km").
Current Limitations
- Cross-Category Conversions: You cannot convert between different types of units (e.g., you can't convert "meters" to "kilograms").
- Ambiguous Units: Some units share names (like US vs Imperial Gallons). We default to the most common standard, but you can be specific (e.g., "imperial gallon").
- Complex Math: While we support basic fractions, we don't yet support complex equations within the query bar (e.g., "5 + 2 meters to feet").
- Unsupported Units: We currently support over 600 units. If you find one missing, it might be on our roadmap!
